Project Spotlight:
Waveside Church
We recently had the opportunity to rebuild a website for Waveside Church in Malibu, California. Their site serves as a place for communication and information on the church’s events, ministries, outreach and resources, and it did a good job of that. But the Waveside team came to use for an upgraded, more modern design that was still easily editable, as events and banners need to be updated frequently.
The Site
We keep accessibility and SEO at the forefront of every site that we build. Waveside’s was no different! Making the site optimized affects things like page titles and how many internal links we include in the content.
One of the things that we pride ourselves most on is how we get to know people and businesses during a redesign process. We value working with others, and we consider every project an opportunity to develop a partnership. We made use of their resources library, the church’s graphic design team was able to contribute images to fit their style, and we launched a site that truly shows off what Waveside is all about.
The Pages
As a church in California facing constant change during the COVID-19 pandemic, we learned about the current situation in southern California and used it to influence the content and resources. For example, the home page features options to connect to their live stream on Sunday mornings.
One of the most commonly visited pages on a church website is the Staff page. People who plan to visit a church want to see who they’re going to meet. Waveside’s About page fulfills this need with a pastor bio and the church’s beliefs.
The Ministries page is another great indicator of what a visitor looking to get involved can expect. It features information on activities for all members of the family and stages of life.
The church already had a full library of free resources for people to download. They also offer a list of external links that have been recommended by pastors for people facing different challenges. We made their Resources page easy to navigate with eye-catching headings.
The Connect page serves as a calendar and a communication inquiry form. As L.A. County is facing continued shut-downs, it was crucial to include events that are still going on.
